A PARABLE OF TWO FEMINISTS
Luke 18:9-14 (adapted)
Behold, one Sunday morning
two Mormon feminists went up to the meetinghouse to pray.
As the Sacrament hymn began
to play, one of them cast her eyes up to heaven and said, “Lord, I thank thee
that I am not like other members of this ward—racist, sexist, stuck in their traditions and mostly (Re)publicans. I
listen to NPR, I contribute to just causes and I read all relevant blogs twice
a week.”
But during the same hymn, the
other Mormon feminist bowed her head and said, “O Jesus, thou Son of
God, have mercy on me."
I ask you, which of
these went back to her home blessed by the Holy Spirit and filled with the love
of Christ?
